MSc in Bioinformatics and Biotechnology
Batch 1, 2011-2013

IBAB’s first batch of the M.Sc Bioinformatics and Biotechnology programme has a rich blend of students from all over India. 40 students were selected through an all-India competitive exam followed by an interview. Our students come from a variety of backgrounds and includes fresh graduates and also those with work experience. What sets our students apart is the deep passion to expand the frontiers of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology in India.

 

Ajay Kumar Tirkey has a B.E in Biotechnology from B.I.E.T Davangere. He is keen on programming with reference to biology, and it is this interest which led him to apply to IBAB. Ajay has done a project on ‘Kinetic studies on alpha-amylase extracted from Bacillus species’.

 

 

 

 

Anjali P M has a B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Manipal Life Sciences Centre. She worked on a project titled ‘Cloning and allelic specific sequencing of adrb2 and its association with malaria’ before joining IBAB to strengthen her knowledge in the field of bioinformatics.

 

 

 

 

Anshu Prabhakar has a B.Sc in Biotechnology, from Bharati Vidyapeeth University, Pune. He has keen interest in the research of rheumatoid heart disease (an auto-immune disease) and joined IBAB to pursue this line of study.

 

 

 

 

 

Ashutosh Singh has a B.Sc in Botany and Chemistry, from KNIPSS, Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He is keen on fields related to modern life science such as physics, chemistry, zoology and botany, and sees himself as a good bioinformatician in future.

 

 

 

 

 

Bagish Mehrotra has a B.Sc. from Y.D.P.G. College, C.S.J.M. Kanpur University. He joined IBAB to pursue his interest in immunology and bioinformatics.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Bhagyshree Babasaheb Jamge has a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, from Padmashri Vikhe Patil College (Pune University), Pravarnagar. She has hands-on training in RDT at IAHS, Bengaluru. She joined IBAB to pursue her interest in genetics and molecular biology.

 

 

 

 

 

Chetan Sunil Joshi has a B.Sc in Bioinformatics, from Deogiri College, Aurangabad. He is also knowledgeable about programming like C, JAVA and PERL. Chetan joined IBAB to deepen his knowledge of biology, and create computer based applications and tools for biologists trying to leverage computers.

 

 

 

 


Costerwell Khyriem has a B.Sc in Biochemistry, from St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, Meghalaya (affiliated to NEHU). He joined IBAB to pursue his interest in computational biology and applied biotechnology studies.

 

 

 

 

 

Harsha Manwani has a B.Sc in Biotechnology, from Holkar Science College, Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She has done a minor project in Microbiology and joined IBAB to pursue a career in Biotechnology.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Icchit Dutt Sharma has a BSc. in Biotechnology from SDM College, an autonomous college under Mangalore University. He joined IBAB to pursue his interest in the study of Immunology and Autoimmune Disorders, and to venture into Bioinformatics.

 

 

 

 

 

Indar Rawal has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from I.T.S Paramedical College, Meerut. He also has a Diploma in Bioinformatics and has done Training cum Project, titled ‘Genomic Database for Neurodegenerative Diseases in Humans’ from Bioinformatics Institute of India, Noida. His areas of interest are molecular biology, cancer biology and neurodegenerative diseases.

 

 

 

 

Lipika Saha has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from Tilak College of Science and Commerce, affiliated to the University of Mumbai. Besides being passionate about Biotechnology she is also interested in theatre.

 

 

 

 

 

Nijil K Babu has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from Garden City College and PG Diploma in Biotechniques. He is fond of mathematics, programming and computational analysis. His desire to analyze biological data led him to join IBAB.

 

 

 

 

 

Nikhil Kumar Kamboj has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar (Punjab). He is keen on studying ‘Signaling pathways and their roles in embryogenesis and cancer’  and genetic engineering including the artificial production of insulin.

 

 

 

 

 

Padma Lochana Patra has a B.Tech in Genetic Engineering, from SRM University, Chennai. He has done a project on ‘Anti Fungal Effect Of alpha-Tomatine on Plant Cell Line’, and joined IBAB to further his abilities to undertake research on the applications of NGS and molecular biological techniques.

 

 

 

 

Vikram Vittal P has a B.Sc in Biotechnology, from A.P.S College, Bangalore University.  He is keen on research and joined IBAB to grow his knowledge in both biotechnology and computer science

 

 

 

 

 

Pallabi Dasgupta has a B.Sc in Botany, with Zoology and Chemistry from Hindu College, Delhi University. She joined IBAB to learn biology, which is basically research based, in greater depth. Pallabi wants to work in the wet lab and learn new research techniques.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Pushpinder Singh Bawa has a B.Tech-Biotechnology from Mumbai University, after which he joined Bharat Serums and Vaccines Ltd., Mumbai as an Officer in R&D and worked there for a year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

R Ayana has a B.Sc in Zoology from Hans Raj College, Delhi University. With keen interest in Biology, Maths and Logic she joined IBAB to further her knowledge in these areas. She is also a music and arts aficionado.

 

 

 

 

 

R Ravi has a B.Sc from Extol College, affiliate of Barkatullah University, Bhopal and a PGDB in Nano Biotechnology (2011). He joined IBAB to further his knowledge of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology and secure a Master’s Degree.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Rahul  Bhalla has done a B.Sc in Medical Biotechnology from Amity University. He joined IBAB to augment his skills in data analysis by learning about information sciences and technologies.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ritesh Patel has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from Extol Institute of Management, Barkatullah University, Bhopal, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Biotechniques, from IBAB, Bangalore. His recent project work involved ‘Cloning and Expression of amyX gene encoding Pullulanase enzyme from B. subtilis 168′.

 

 

 

 

 

Rohith B.C has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from K.L.E College, an affiliate of Bangalore University. He has also completed a PG Diploma in Bioinformatics from Mysore University. His project was on ‘Homology Modeling and structural comparison of CRELD1 and its Variants in Atrioventricular Septal Defect(AVSD)’.

 

 

 

 

Shipra Verma has a B.Sc in Bioinformatics, from Holkar Science College, DAVV University of Indore, Madhya Pradesh.  She has a special interest in computational biology.

 

 

 

 

 

 


Shreeja Rajendran Nair has a B.Sc in Bioinformatics from Christ College, Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat. She has done a project on ‘Systematic comparison of Intron, Exon and/or splice variants tools’ and interned at Shodhaka Pvt. Ltd. Shreeja is interested in computational biology and developing tools and databases in the area of Bioinformatics.

 

 

 

 


K Shruthi Muralidharan has a B.Sc in Bioinformatics from Deogiri College, Aurangabad. Her areas of interest are Bioinformatics, biology and computational biology. She joined IBAB to expand her knowledge of biotechnology and computer science.

 

 

 

 

 

Shruti Vinayak Kane has a B.Sc in Biotechnology from K. J. Somaiya College, Mumbai. She joined IBAB to pursue her interest in Bioinformatics and core biology. She plans a career in environmental biotechnology.

 

 

 

 

 

Shuba Varshini A has a B.E in Biotechnology, from PESIT, Bangalore, an affiliate of VTU University, Belgum. Her areas of interest are biological mathematics, biology and computational biology. She plans to become a scientist and engage in research.

 

 

 

 

 

Sinoy T Mathew has a B.Sc in Bioinformatics from Christ College, Saurashtra University, Rajkot, Gujarat. His areas of interest are computational programming and understanding biological complexity computationally. His final year project was ‘Systematic comparison of Alternative Splicing databases’ which he has done as an intern at Shodhaka Pvt. Ltd.

 

 

 

 

Sowrabha B J has a BSc. from PES College, Bangalore. She joined IBAB to expand her knowledge of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology. She hopes to pursue a career in a top MNC.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Tanvi Hamine has a B.Sc. in Biotechnology, and has majored in Chemistry and Computer Science from Holkar Science College, Indore. She is interested in computational biology.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Udita Chandola has a B.SC in Biotechnology, from Mumbai University. Her areas of interest are molecular biology and computational biology. She joined IBAB as it was the right institute for her to gain an overall knowledge of all the allied fields.

 

 

 

 

 

S Vijaylakshmi Iyer has a B.SC. in Microbiology from Career College, Bhopal, affiliated to Barkatullah University, Madhya Pradesh. She has done an internship project on ‘Instrumentation, Characterization and Immobilization of alpha amylase’. She has keen interest in Molecular and Computational Biology.
