All animals were housed in plastic cages (two/cage) with wooden chips as bedding in a 12:12 h light:dark cycle at 22 °C. Rats were given access to standard rat chow (Agribrands, Purina Canada, Strathroy, ON) and ad libitum access to tap water for 1 week (acclimatization period) before starting experiments.
